Funland Amusement Park is just a 10 minute walk from Crowberry Lodge and offers the whole family a great day out with a wide range of fantastic attractions for young and old alike. Amusements are available inside and out so the weather doesn’t spoil you day. They also have an artificial ice-rink which is open all year round to people of all ages, with skate hire available on site. (Visit the Funland website)
The Narrow gage railway runs along the beach seafront from Eastoke corner to Beachlands. The train departs every 45 minutes; starting at 11am each morning; offering a 10 minute ride along the central seafront area of Hayling.
Hayling Island Skate park is right on the seafront; near Inn on the Beach and offers a variety of ramps and rails for Skateboards, Skate and BMX riders.
Activities on the seafront include adventure playgrounds, a volleyball court and a seafront exercise trail.
Walk or cycle the Billy Trail. A coastal path that runs most of the length of Hayling Island along the original route of the “Hayling Billy” train line.
Play a round of golf in one of Hayling Island’s golf courses: One on the seafront and one at the edge of Tournerbury woods
Learn how to kite surf. Crowberry Lodge is ideally situated close to West Beachlands which is an ideal place to learn this exciting sport. There are several places to buy or hire kites surf equipment and we recommend our very own Hayling Island Kite Shop CBK .Lessons are also available throughout the summer months from Zero Gravity.
Take a wildlife walk. Ralph Hollins; a much respected local naturalist; has kindly provided details of over 20 local walks on his website.
Sit & Watch the boats go by. Why not take a stroll down to the beach and enjoy the beautiful sea and its often bustling water crafts? Both commercial and leisure craft are regularly passing and it is an excellent way of relaxing and letting time roll by for a short while. Popular destinations for witnessing the marine traffic are Hayling Island’s two waterfront pubs: the Ferry Boat Inn and the Inn on the Beach. Both public houses are ideal locations to have refreshment whilst observing a different kind of world.
Take in a show. Hayling Island has its own highly capable amateur theatre group H.I.A.D.S. (Hayling Island Amateur Dramatics Society). They are located at the converted railway goods shed in Station Road. Head on over to their official website for more information.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The historic dockyard is home to HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, The Mary Rose and a whole range of other naval attractions. Transport to the dockyard is available through bus links or a train from Havant station. More information can be found at www.historicdockyard.co.uk
The Spinnaker Tower. Prove your nerve by climbing the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth and looking down through the glass floor; 170 metres above the ground. The Spinnaker Tower offers incredible views across the Solent and surrounding area including Hayling Island. Rest assured, if the climb seems too daunting then there’s always the lift! The South Downs. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, Hayling Island is blessed to have the rolling hills of the South Downs. Enjoy the outdoor activities at Queen Elizabeth Country Park or use it as a starting point to join the Southdowns Way.
Historical Solent. The solent area is steeped in history, and there are some spectacular historic sites that offer a day out for all the family. All of these are within easy reach of Hayling Island. Favourite local historic spots include Portchester Castle, Chichester Cathedral, Arundel, Southsea Castle and Fishbourne Roman Palace.
Museums. Whilst Hayling doesn’t yet have it’s own museum, there are many within a short distance of the Island. Local favourites include: The RN Submarine Museum, The Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum, Havant Museum, D Day Museum, Royal Marines Museum, Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, and Portsmouth City Museum.
